ifi is a company well known for their myriad of devices, ranging from the iCan, to their iDSD BL, to the IEMatch series. What we have here today is their newest product the xDSD a DAC/Amp combo that packs a lot of their tech and introduces bluetooth connectivity.

The xDSD comes in the classic ifi simple white packaging with all the details of the specs of the xDSD presented. Opening the box reveals the usual warranty and instruction manuals, the unit, the standard black velour ifi pouch, and the requisite USB cables, adapters, and some pre-cut velcro pads that you can use for stacking the xDSD.

The xDSD marks a departure from the usual more industrial design of ifi devices with a chromed out finish, and the curious scalloped pattern that definitely is eye catching. All the requisite power or data inputs are in the rear, with a switch, while the front is adorned with the single ended or balanced 3.5mm output, the multifunction main button, LED, and volume knob, with some other status LEDs and another multi function button.

Overall the xDSD looks like an interesting change of aesthetic pace for ifi, but no doubt packing quality sound they have been known for. I'll continue to spend more time with it in the coming weeks to truly get a handle on how it sounds and operates, especially on that bluetooth spec.

I'd like to thank the great people at ifi audio for sending these to me for review! Stay tuned for the full rundown of this shiny shiny little thing.
